LUNCH WITH GINA ANDERSON

ENCOURAGEMENT FOR CAREGIVERS

MAY 8, 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM at sparrowsMATTER

Life’s tapestry often weaves patterns of tradition and change. I’ve always found solace in the familiar – growing up in the embrace of a pastor’s home, marrying a pastor, and anchoring my identity in the heartbeat of the church, but the past year altered my landscape. I watched my husband, the soul of my existence, wage a fierce battle against stage 4 cancer. In a heart-wrenching span of eight months, I bid him goodbye right in the sanctuary of our home, surrounded by our family.

After 41 years of marriage, that poignant moment reshaped everything I held dear – my home, loving family, cherished job, identity, and even the church that had been the constant of my life. Like an omnipresent shadow, grief touched every corner of my existence, turning the familiar into memories too painful to revisit.

Yet, as I journey back through memories, I see the silhouettes of God’s unwavering faithfulness. He’s been my beacon during some of my darkest nights – when I lost my eldest son in a tragic accident at 16, faced my own battle with breast cancer, and helped care for my father during the twilight of his life, burdened with Parkinson’s. Through each tumultuous wave, I’ve felt God’s reassuring presence.

Today, amidst life’s complexities, I’ve found that leaning into Him and pouring out my soul – my questions, doubts, and even my anger – is the pathway to healing. He beckons me to sit with Him in the hush of life’s chaos, guiding me forward with gentle assurance.
